Imagination

Written by Alicia Smith

Imagination is more important than knowledge.”
~ Albert Einstein

Today, we are going to teach you a technique to stimulate your imagination and your creativity, which will greatly enhance your marketing ideas and strategies.

  1.  Go to the bookstore or library and select three travel magazines.  Do not open the magazines until the instructions say to do so.
  2. Place the magazines on a table, and take out a clean piece of paper.
  3. Do not open the magazines just yet.  Make a list of ten vacations you would take if you had the choice of going anywhere you want in the world.
  4. Now, flip through the magazines and make a list of all of the vacations you see in the magazine that you would love to take.
  5. Compare your original list with the list you compiled after browsing the magazine.

Does Work Bring You Joy?

Written by Marcia Merrill

A coaching client asked me ‘why are you so happy & positive all the time?”  Very simple, really.  I love what I do!

We all want to be happy- really like what we do and have energy…to feel alive not just dragging through each day.

But, now I’m going to talk about “joybusters”.  Reasons why many don’t feel joy.  Feeling stressed, dreading another day at work…feeling “trapped” & stuck, overwhelmed and can’t decide what to do first!   That’s what I hear all the time.  Not unusual.  Many want to feel the joy!

Does work bring you joy?  If yes, what makes it so?  If not, what would need to change?

Tips for Planning Your Own Creative Business Retreat for 2009!

Written by Laura Howard West

One of the most important things you can do for your business is to plan a creative retreat. Even small businesses and solo-entrepreneurs need time away from their home office to reflect, dream and plan for the new year.

Taking time away will shift your perspective, help you tap into your creative energy and give you new ideas for the next year for attracting more of your perfect clients, more money and creating products and services. This time out of the office and away from daily activities will pay off in a big way because you’ll be setting your direction for the year. When you set your direction - you are gathering your energy, your focus and your commitment - that’s very powerful.

How to Keep ‘Em Coming Back for More

Written by hgraves

Back when I was young and spry, I spent a semester hiking through the Yosemite back country for college credit (one of the perks of attending UCSC).

Whenever things weren’t going well -like when the bears ate all our food 3 days into a 5-day hike - my friend Terry Chan would say, “We’re not having
fun now, but it’ll make a great story!”   (Terry had ample opportunity to use that line during those 3 months.)

Strong Boundaries: The Cornerstone of Every Profitable Business

Written by smartini

When was the last time a client called your cell phone after hours or sent you an email at 8pm and expected an answer by 9pm or didn’t pay you per your agreement? Or a vendor or coach took a week to answer an email?
If this is happening, it’s time to either set, or reaffirm, your boundaries.

What are boundaries?

Personally, I like to think of “boundaries” as “the standards around which I manage my business”. For example:
